Hmmmm…

Memphis Bleek, the rapper most known for being in Jay Z’s “will somewhere”, was on The Breakfast Club this morning. In the early stages of the eye-opening interview, he let it be known that he was working with a number of artists – including one from Barbados.

Obviously this intrigued me. In a true bajan sense, it had me wondering, who’s dah? So I put on my detective cap, and prepared myself for a number of Google searches… then I just went to Bleek’s Instagram like a normal person. Lo’ and behold, in a series of videos from last month, strumming away at his guitar was the artist he was making mention to: Shane Free.

Who knows how far back this relationship started, but it’s good to see that Free – best known for “West Indies“, and who released an Ep last year called Moving Forward – is getting a fresh opportunity with his career by working with Bleek’s Warehouse Music Group imprint. We wish him the best and I can’t wait to hear what this can produce.

Sidebar: Rihanna made her first video appearance in Memphis Bleek’s video for “Like That (featuring Swizz Beats)” (below at the 1:53 mark) and made her first guest feature on he record “The One” – which was featured on her first ever mixtape.
