Chrystal Cummins-Beckles – Miss Ya Bad
Don’t cry for me.
Chrystal Cummins-Beckles’s “Miss Ya Bad” first comes off as another anthem for the love drunk: “‘Cause last year ya told me, that you allure me/And you ain’t going no where,” she sings. But by the chorus it’s clear: the Corey Jordan-produced song isn’t a “come love me again” plea to a former flame, but a tribute to our festival, its music, and how bad the pining can get after the last truck goes down Spring Garden, revealing in the second verse, “I can’t forget the beautiful array of costumes that you left/A sight so sweet to see/An atmosphere to bring together every family and friend/Everyone in harmony.” Great singing, smart writing, and an all around good song.
