Nuhbody int Tell me Sir Garfield Sobers’s Grandson Coming ‘Bout hay fuh Artistry
Being on a self-imposed social media detox, I miss a few things. If doesn’t come to come in my email inbox or down my YouTube or Soundcloud subscription feeds, I’m out of the loop. Because that’s what social media is: staying in the loop. Anyways, I logged into the 246Mixtapes Twitter (follow ‘um) for a quick second and had a scroll, and that’s when I butt up pon the news that Sir Garfield Sobers’s grandson will be one of this year’s featured artistes at the upcoming Hennessey Artistry show. Young Sobey, as I’m sure he might wish to be called, is known for his hits “Say It” and “Luv” – both reworks of classic R&B (Brownstone’s “If You Love Me”) and dancehall (Tanto Metro & Devonte’s “Everyone Falls In Love”) hits back in the 90s. (Rehashing and imitating the old and present is kind of his forte.)
The Canadian rapper, and, don’t forget, the kin of the greatest batsman that ever lived, will be sharing the stage that night with Mavado, Sizzla, Uncle Beres and the usual handful of Bajan acts to open the innings. No word yet on if Sir Garry will make it out that night to see the superstar member of his lineage, or if he even knows that he exists. Watch his recent performance at Reggae Sumfest below to get an idea of what you’ll get on the night if you decide to go. Let’s just hope it’s better than Lauryn’s.
